Rules for playing Roulette at the casino

Roulette is a very old game that comes from 18th century France. The players stand around a table where there is a mat with a grid with different numbers and a number of different betting options. There is also a wheel on the table with numbered compartments that a ball can fall into. Each compartment also has a color, red, black or green. In the basic game, you win if you have placed your chips on the number that the ball falls into. The game is fun and easy to learn. There are lots of variations of bets where each type gives different levels of winnings. There are different types of roulette that can have slightly different rules, here we describe the European variant that has a zero and the numbers 1-36 on the board. A round begins with the players placing their chips on the numbers they think the ball will land on. When everyone is ready, the ball is sent out in the wheel (or you press the button if you play online), the ball stops and winnings are paid out. Then a new round starts.

Different ways to place your chips in roulette

There are two main groups of game modes; the first is inside bets which mean that you place your chips on the numbers directly in different ways.

Straight up , you place your chips on a number, if you win you get 35 times the money.

Split number , you place your chips on the line between two numbers, if one of the numbers wins you get 17 times the money.

3 Line , place your chips on the edge of a line, you then have all the numbers on that line, if you win you get 11-12 times the money.

4 Corner , place your bet in the cross between four numbers, the win will be 8 times the money

6 Line , place your bet on the left of the line between two lines, if you win you get 5 times the bet

The second group is Outside bets, which means that you use the squares that surround the game board. Outside bets allow the player to play on larger groups of numbers. This gives a greater chance of winning but a lower dividend. The groups available are:

12 number column , this is when you place chips at the bottom of the table to cover an entire column of numbers, if any of your 12 numbers go in you win 2 times the money.

12 numbers dozen , here you add to the left of the board to cover any of the three squares that contain either 1-12, 13-24 or 25-36, the win is 2 times the money.

Red or black , put the chips on one of its colors, if you win you double your money

Odd or even , works as red / black

Low / High , low means numbers 1-18, high means numbers 19-36, profit doubles your money.
