Real Money Poker

Poker has been played in casinos, bars, and homes around the world for decades. It was not until the mid-2000s that real money poker really flourished after an unknown accountant with a fitting name took over the WSOP Main Event in 2003. The man named Chris Moneymaker turned the poker world upside down.

These days, poker games are available in local casinos and various online poker rooms, for both players and the rest of the world. Although there are many variations of poker, Texas Hold'em is the most popular, often referred to as the Cadillac of Poker.

How to play poker with real money

When we talk about poker today, we usually mean Texas Hold'em, unless it is specifically emphasized that we are talking about other variations, such as Omaha, Seven Card Stud, 2-7 Draw, and so on. So if you want to learn how to play real money poker, you should definitely start with Hold'em which is played in the No Limit variation.

No-Limit Texas Hold'em is played between two to ten players sitting at the table using a standard set of 52 cards without jokers. At the beginning of each hand is a designated dealer (button) and two blinds, the Small blind and the Big blind, to the left of the button.

The dark ones are the first to make the effort to get started. If it were not for the blinds, players would hardly play, except when they have premium hands. With blinds, there is always something to fight for, whether you are attacking the blinds or defending the money you put on the table.

Distribution of cards

Once the blinds have been selected, each player on the table is dealt two cards. The player sitting in the small blind gets the first card, and from there the cards are dealt clockwise where each player is dealt a card. Then the cards are dealt another round where players at the table receive their second card in the same way.

Real money poker tournaments

Like most sports or other competitions, tournaments are usually played with multiple players competing for prizes. To participate in a poker tournament, the player needs to pay a certain amount (purchase) in exchange for a stack of chips. Players use these chips to play poker and try to increase them while playing other players.

During the course of the tournament, players go out when they lose the chips allotted. Eventually, the tournament reaches the critical point called the bubble. Here, everyone who remains in the competition gets a prize.

Those who stream in shortly after the bubble will only receive a small amount of money (unlike the purchases) but the ultimate goal is to reach the final table, usually with the last few players (6-10). This is where all the big money lies, especially for the ultimate winner who can count on as much as 20% + the total prize pool accumulated through purchases.
